Older kids will love climbing on the indoor rock wall. There are stores close by if you prefer to buy something you actually like. Claude Moore Recreation Center The leisure pool at Claude Moore is a local family favorite and is equipped with a giant water slide, children’s water playground that includes a small slide and spray features, vortex, lazy river, hot tub and a free swim area. You can get snacks and drinks from the vending machines, so do not expect a superb meal, but it will sustain you if you need it. I guess the only downsides were occasional swim meets on weekends that made it hard to park and impossible to use the pool. And for those who love a challenge there is also a rock climbing wall. And if you wish to do some running, but weather is bad and you hate a treadmill, there is a track, with 13 to 15 laps to a mile. There is some additional equipment that you can use, such as boards, weights etc. For the swimming maniacs, the pool is great, most the time offers short course distances but varying depth. If you rather play basketball, or work on your volleyball skills, balls are available and you can do that solo or with friends, or make new friends. You can enjoy yourself in the main gym, using aerobic equipment, weights machines, do any exercise on the floor you want. If you have kids there is a family pool with slides and a number of varying depth pools suitable for any age and skill. I loved the open space main gym, running track and the pool. WARF is a great place for active family fun in Northern VA!Ĭontact Us| Terms Of Use | Privacy Policy | Press I Newsletter Archive The playground itself is right next to a beautiful lake as well. In addition to the rock wall, swings and slides there are plenty of shaded benches for families to rest and see almost everywhere. The outdoor Claude Moore Fun for All Playground, located just outside theĪquatic center, is of course a big hit for all sizes. Once they pass they are allowed to ride the slide. The large waterslide is for kids 48 inches and up, but if your child is under the height requirement and wants to try the big slide, she or he can take a quick swimming test in front of a lifeguard. We really liked it because the smaller children could easily take breaks from the action if needed. It has slides and fun features like little waterfalls where the big pool overflows into the play pool. The toddler pool area has zero depth entry and never gets higher than about 1.5 inches in any area. WARF boasts a "lazy river" but while we found it lots of fun, it was not very lazy! Keep close to kids who are not strong swimmers as the water is almost 4 feet, and the current is quite strong. The great thing about the Warrenton Aquatic & Recreation Facility (WARF) is that even though it is a facility run by the town of Warrenton, you do not have to be a resident to use the pools.Ī 1 day pass for a child (up to 17) is $5.50 and for adults is $7.50. Children 2 and under are admitted free with a paying adult.
